SRSA remembers Past Presidents, award winners and contributors that have passed.

  • Mark S. Henry, SRSA President in 1991, died on July 22, 2012.  He was a Professor of Applied Economics and Statistics and Co-director of the EDA University Center for Economic Development at Clemson University. Named a Fellow of the association in 2004, he served on the editorial board of The Review of Regional Studies, as well as several other journals. Obituary in Kansas City Star

  • James C. Hite SRSA President in 1985, died on August 8, 2011. Dr. Hite was the 14th President of the SRSA, Alumni Distinguished Professor Emeritus of agricultural economics and retired Senior Fellow of the Strom Thurmond Institute.

  • Carlianne Patrick of the Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics at The Ohio State University won the 2011 Barry M. Moriarty Student Paper Competition Award, presented at our March, 2011 meetings.  She presented her paper, “The Economic Development Incentives Game: An Imperfect Information, Heterogeneous Communities Approach”.

  • Andrew Isserman, SRSA Fellow, 21st SRSA President, and noted Regional Scientist, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010.

  • Shirley Weiss, SRSA President in 1978, passed away on August 31, 2010.
